Inspiration comes in many forms…

On March 3rd, 2012, I attended the Amber Housley Inspired workshop in Nashville, TN. At first I was hesitant about attending the workshop. The description said that It was geared towards any creative business.  I thought perhaps it was too broad and I was looking for something to spark my creativity and help grow my business further. I was not sure if this workshop was going to be for me. I decided to sign up anyway. All attendees were introduced to a private Facebook group where we quickly shared business tips and travel advice. As the days grew closer I became more eager to learn what the workshop was about and as I read about the guest speakers, I soon realized that this was going to be an amazing experience.

March 3rd: I walked into the venue and was greeted by warm friendly faces. People that I had never met before but somehow seemed so familiar. Faces that I had only seen on a 1/2″x1/2″ square Facebook photo, yet somehow I felt like I had known them an eternity.  I immediately felt comfortable and at ease.

After a brief mingle, the workshop got underway. As the speakers stood up one by one, they shared stories of successes and failures. Perseverance and determination. They spoke candidly of where they had been, where they are now, and where they  plan to be. I felt a connection with each speaker’s story. I felt as if they were speaking about me. They were all so relatable. As each one spoke, a little spark in me began to ignite. Finally! the workshop I had been looking for. You see, In the creative field, no one can teach you right and wrong. No class or book can teach you what to do, but what you can learn, is how to overcome. Creative business are all centered in the same fundamental core. It’s really about following your dreams, setting goals, and facing fears. Suddenly I had realized that although all of our business where different, we all had the same fears, challenges and fair share of failures.

I am so grateful to have attended this workshop. It really was the little push I needed.

I am Grateful  to  Amber Housley for putting together such an amazing day. For sharing her stories of successes and failures. For sharing the tools that we all need to be successful.

I am Grateful to Kelly Boyd (Anne Kelle) for showing me that everyone, not just me, have fears. That fears are obstacles that stand in the way of goals.

I am Thankful to Sara Rose (Sara E. Rose Photography) for teaching me that mommy guilt is universal. We all suffer from it, but it should not hinder our personal growth.

I am Thankful to Jessica Bishop (The Budget Saavy Bride) for sharing her tips on professionalism and public relations.

I am Thankful for Courtney Dial (Pizzazzerie + author of Push Pops) for teaching us all that with a little effort and persistence we can achieve anything.

We all left the workshop with a bag full of goodies. So many pieces of creativity bundled into one pretty pink bag.

I can write for days and still this blog post would not properly describe this workshop. It is definitely one of those “you had to be there” moments. I urge anyone who is thinking of starting a creative business, or currently has a business and has lost their drive, to attend this amazingly inspiring workshop.

Halloween Invitations

Its that time already. We’ve packed away the summer gear and quickly we find ourselves staring Halloween in the face. Not too much time to plan, but Halloween parties are easy to put together. Lots of candy, yummy desserts and eerie finger food. Martha Stewart has a great collection of recipes on her site, Family Fun has great recipes for kid’s halloween parties too. Here at I’m Inkpressed we have geared up for Halloween too. We have two new friends that are being introduced to our line of products. What better way to introduce the new characters but to dress them up for Halloween. Meet Pepper + Jack the two newest members of the I’m Inkpressed family. This adorable pair will be featured in a variety of different products. We will be seeing so much more of them! stay tuned…..

Color theme party

When thinking of a theme for your little girl’s birthday party, why not just use a color as the theme. You can find a broad array of party supplies in various shades of pink. Purchase everything from baby pink, hot pink, peach and watermelon. Combination of all these colors will make a beautiful, colorful display. Sticking to the theme, you can make pink cupcakes, favor bags and tons of pink candy.

The possibilities of a color theme party are endless. Look for color trends and create a pretty party that all the girls will remember. How about adding light green to pinks and peaches? It creates a pretty palette like we did here. We took one of our new designs, “Amber in the Park” and created a collage inspired by the colors found in the invitation.

Silhouettes

Silhouettes have become the latest craze. They are everywhere from victorian cameos to playful animals. Silhouettes have taken taken over. I drew inspiration from this and created a bunch of whimsical products that we like to call “The Witness Protection” line. Products will be available on our site www.iminkpressed.com, in the meantime, enjoy the sneak peak!

Special Delivery

New baby shower invitations added! We are excited about our new additions. Modern colors and adorable illustrations add a nice touch to these invitations.

New products…… and much more

Its been over a month since the last post and I swore that I’m Inkpressed would have a new post once a week….I do have a good excuse. I have been a busy little bee.  I went on a field trip to the National Stationery Show, the highlight of my spring every year. I met so many creative and talented people. The show is so inspiring to me. I always walk away feeling so creative. This year the show inspired me to take my business to different levels, continue to raise the bar and set new goals. With that in mind, I have begun designing new products and reorganizing my business. Tons of new products will be introduced…. here’s a sneak peek :

so much more to come…… please stand by

Baby Showers

Its almost time…… The arrival of baby is an exciting time. Planning the perfect shower is just as exciting. Unlike bridal showers and birthdays, baby showers are almost fool proof. From the invitations to the party favors you are sure to find crowd pleasers. Baby showers have become hip and trendy just like the new moms. Showers games have seen a makeover and even the cakes have been replaced with cupcakes. No matter the theme, food or decor, baby showers are always well an enjoyable time.

Hoping for Spring

With more snow in the forecast, I can’t help to think ahead and hope for warmer days.  With Easter on my mind, I created a new invitation “Easter Chick” to help bring some happy thoughts of spring. What better way to celebrate the season than with an egg hunt. Invite some family and friends over for brunch. Set a table where the kids can gather and decorate eggs, finger paint or simply play games while the grown ups mingle. For the menu, the possibilities are endless. Click here for some great menu ideas. Serve a light citrus juice or a fruity punch. Afterwards, take the kids outside and let the hunt begin. By far the most exciting part is watching the kids run around with their baskets in a race for who can gather the most eggs!
